ABOUT

After returning to my home country of Belize in 2008, I established mdSTUDIO Ltd. as an architecture and development consulting firm, bringing my extensive urban design, master planning and international architecture experience to the country. I was hired by the Government of Belize in 2009.  For over 10 years, I continued to advance the infrastructure agenda of Belize through committed capital investment in master planning, architecture, multi-sector project development, legislation and policy creation. My professional services also included facilitating partnerships with the government and the private sector.

In my time serving the government and liaising with international entities such as the IDB, World Bank, ICDF and the IMF, my learned expertise of international best practices kept my office operating at the highest of standards. This experience emphasized for me the importance of the business of architecture for both the public and private sector when creating long-term sustainable projects with economic and social solutions. My PUBLIC WORK

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and my early experience in Texas included working on the award-winning International Center on the San Antonio Riverwalk as well as the historic Alameda Theater Building. I continued my professional growth in large scale urban development during my years in New York at the offices of Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM). In my role with the Urban Design Group, key projects included the development of Columbia University Manhattanville Campus Plan. Additionally, I worked diligently to ensure the land use re-zoning approval for the renown Memorial Sloan Ketting Cancer Center in Manhattan through sensitization with local government and garnering community consensus.

I am a licensed architect within Belize and with the US National Council of Architectural Registration Board, New York (NCARB) and a registered member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). My overall experience includes design as well as core physical planning aspects of development, such as urban planning, zoning, environmental impact analysis, code compliance, design guidelines and policy. Working through all phases of the project from master planning to final construction, I have focused on procurement of consultants, contractors and the project management necessary to take projects from design to construction completion.

I have served on the Steering Committee for the ICDF Taiwan Belize City Rehabilitation Project, the Steering Committee for the Comprehensive National Transportation Master Plan (CNTMP) (LINK) and led the development of the National Sustainable Tourism Master Plan (NSTMP) for the country where I served as Director on the Belize Tourism Board.
Committed to both country and Client, my collaboration and access to local and international
consultants allows me to provide optimal design solutions at every scale unique to every
Client.
